THE Philippine Coast Guard will hire 1,000 new personnel to be deployed in the maritime hubs of the Visayas and Mindanao, particularly Cebu and Cagayan de Oro.
Commandant Vice Adm. Wilfredo Tamayo said the additional men will be a welcome boost to the current 5,000 personnel of the Coast Guard.
“[But] the Coast Guard needs more people because we are an archipelagic country with more than 7,000 islands,” said Tamayo.
Even if the agency would deploy one personnel for every island there would still be “a lot of unguarded islands.”
The Coast Guard operates through five area commands, 64 districts and 192 detachments nationwide. The agency assigns between three to five personnel for every detachment.
“I have been saying that the Coast Guard is one of the over-challenged coast guards in the world. We wish we could raise our number of personnel to 25,000 so there would be more detachments that would be put up, so there would be more areas that we could cover, the more we could protect, and the more coastlines we could service,” said Tamayo.
It would take about 10 years for the agency to be able to hire 10,000 more recruits.

From a reliable source- "most likely" daw after election pa final listing this 2010 (for those who passed the august 2009 exam), accordingly you will be notified through phonecall or text (depending on the contact # you gave upon applying)if you made it sa the final listing. Unless this source is mistaken, pwede pa magbakasyon this summer.

ReplyDeletethough it may be distressing, we have undertaken such phase(stress and cardio clearance) even if there is no announcement.. we have anticipated that we may not pass the ecg so we ask some queries directly to the records section. And we are right about our intuition, they are not posting such important details just to lessen the competition,, take note that ignorance is a sin!!

ReplyDeleteang tagal n po nming naghihintay ng training,, pls expedite the process, ndi rin nman kmi mga basta-basta lng n mga aplikante, mga professional po kmi and as such, we deserve to be acknowledge.. not to mention the costs that incurred in our side just to wait for the training, it also cost us precious time..

ReplyDeletePlease post your final listing, it seems that you keep on postponing the dates, what's the problem of your agency. Do you know that applicants came from different places in the philippines especially those in mindanao. Poor parents keep on sending money to their sons or daughters just to make a follow-up, we are also suffering from financial problems, now barangay election is over, please post your final listing to end the predicament of the applicants waiting for nothing. You keep on receiving messages, asking about your agency. Hope you will act on our query. More power and act now.
